Alertcops guarantees communication with the Spanish police to citizens with hearing disabilities

The Spanish Ministry of Interior launched Alertcops, an app that makes communicating with the police easier to all citizens, in particular, to those with hearing and/or speech disabilities. This service allows citizens to send geographically targeted text-based emergency alerts to the police using mobile phones. The app is also targeted to tourists and foreigners residing in Spain that speak little or no Spanish.

A group of agencies belonging to the United States government have made available a toolkit containing a series of guides to encourage US federal agencies and companies to improve access to social media and/or Blog content for people with disabilities. The Toolkit, named Improving Accessibility of Social Media in Government, is mainly targeted to developers, social media experts and citizens in general.
